Assistant Planner (Emeryville, CA)

LHH is teaming up with a well‑established food and beverage retail organization in Emeryville, CA in search of an Assistant Planner to support merchandise allocation and inventory distribution across store locations.

This role is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with numbers, analyzing trends, and seeing how product decisions influence store performance. The organization offers a collaborative environment where merchandising teams work closely with planning and allocation to keep assortments fresh and engaging for customers. You’ll contribute to the company’s overall product strategy and help ensure stores receive the right products at the right time.

The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, enjoys data analysis, and has strong Excel proficiency. Retail experience is helpful but not required. Candidates who thrive here are skilled at problem‑solving, comfortable navigating large data sets, and eager to support the planning and allocation function.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understand and carry out appropriate distribution of products to stores to support sell‑through and profitability.
  • Execute the company’s merchandising and assortment strategy through effective product allocation.
  • Analyze store‑level data to identify trends at chain, region, and store levels; recommend and implement adjustments when appropriate.
  • Apply knowledge of regional and climatic characteristics to guide category and sub‑class allocations.

Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of planning experience required.
  • Strong Excel skills required.
  • Experience working with large data sets and performing data analysis required.
  • Retail or merchandising experience is a plus.
  • Ability to interpret reporting, identify trends, and make allocation recommendations.

Job Type: Contract

Start Date: ASAP

Location: Hybrid – Emeryville, CA (4 days on‑site, 1 remote)

Hours: Full‑time

Pay Rate: $28–$33 per hour, depending on experience

Contract Duration: Through September 2026, with potential extension
