Location: Evansville, IN (Onsite)
Job Type: 5+ Months Contract (Possible extension or conversion into permanent)
Schedule: Day Shift, Monday–Friday (Flexible Start Time)
Pay Range: $50-56/Hr W2.
Overview
We are seeking a Clinical Technical Specialist – Blood Bank to lead Transfusion Medicine operations within a hospital laboratory setting. This role focuses on process improvement, standardization, regulatory compliance, and staff training to ensure high-quality blood bank services.
Duties
Lead Transfusion Medicine / Blood Bank projects and initiatives
Ensure compliance with FDA, CAP, and AABB standards
Manage FDA reportable events and documentation
Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Drive quality improvement and process standardization
Evaluate and support implementation of lab instrumentation and reagents
Collaborate with hospital leadership and quality teams
Develop training and competency programs for lab staff
Establish productivity standards and quality metrics
Participate in committees and cross-functional initiatives
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or related field
ASCP Certification (Required)
3–6 years of clinical laboratory experience
Strong experience in: Blood Bank / Transfusion Medicine, Regulatory compliance (FDA, CAP, AABB), SOP development and quality systems and Laboratory instrumentation and validation
Prior experience in training, leadership, or process improvement preferred
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Clinical laboratory setting with exposure to biological materials and chemicals
Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and perform routine lab movements
Color vision required
Required immunizations: COVID-19, Flu, MMR, Varicella, Tdap, TB testing
