Duties:

Understands the business environment and the impact IT can have on the business environment. Provides analysis and support for installed systems, as well as system implementation and integration projects, which require systems analysis, design, build, testing and implementation for specific modules or applications.

Role Summary
The Epic Beaker Certified Analyst / Consultant provides consulting and implementation support for laboratory information systems within an academic medical center environment. This role is responsible for the configuration, optimization, and ongoing support of Epic Beaker Anatomic Pathology (AP) and Clinical Pathology (CP) modules, working in close partnership with laboratory leadership, pathologists, clinical stakeholders, and IT teams.
The consultant ensures Epic Beaker solutions align with clinical workflows, operational needs, regulatory requirements, and institutional standards, while supporting high-quality patient care and laboratory operations.
Key Responsibilities
Provide Epic Beaker AP and CP configuration, build, optimization, and support services
Partner with laboratory stakeholders, pathologists, and clinical teams to understand workflows and requirements
Translate laboratory business and clinical needs into effective Epic Beaker system design and configuration
Support academic medical center laboratory environments, including complex anatomic and clinical pathology workflows
Participate in Epic implementations, upgrades, and large-scale optimization initiatives as needed
Collaborate with IT teams to ensure system stability, integration, and adherence to best practices
Support laboratory regulatory, accreditation, and compliance needs (e.g., CAP, CLIA) through system design and documentation
Produce clear documentation, analysis, and deliverables appropriate for consulting and SOW-based engagements
Provide guidance and recommendations to improve efficiency, quality, and usability of laboratory systems
Required Qualifications
Active Epic Beaker certification in Anatomic Pathology (AP) and Clinical Pathology (CP)
Proven experience supporting Epic Beaker in an academic medical center or complex healthcare environment
Hands-on experience with Epic Beaker build, configuration, and optimization
Strong understanding of clinical pathology and anatomic pathology workflows and laboratory operations
Demonstrated ability to translate laboratory business requirements into Epic Beaker solutions
Strong collaboration skills with laboratory leadership, clinicians, and IT partners
Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills
Experience working in consulting, SOW-based, or vendor-supported engagements
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Qualifications
Data Innovations (DI) certification
Experience supporting or integrating laboratory middleware solutions (e.g., Data Innovations)
Prior participation in Epic implementations, upgrades, or enterprise optimization efforts
Familiarity with laboratory regulatory and accreditation standards (CAP, CLIA, etc.)
Experience working under vendor contracts, statements of work (SOWs), or staff augmentation models
Work Environment
Academic medical center or complex healthcare setting
Collaborative, multidisciplinary environment involving laboratory, clinical, and IT teams
