Summer Associates VISTA Program

United Way’s AmeriCorps VISTA Summer Associate program offers individuals the opportunity to become engaged in their communities through an existing AmeriCorps VISTA project. All assignments will help to promote the health, safety, and education of every person in the Greater Lehigh Valley and ensure that every person belongs, and every person thrives. Projects will run for 10 weeks over the summer, and all participants will receive a living allowance and an education award for their service. Benefits include a $4,800 living allowance for the 10-week program, along with a $1,565 Education Award upon completion.

Summer Learning and Nutrition VISTAs – support summer learning and food access initiatives in the Greater Lehigh Valley. They will work with community partners to address summer learning loss and food insecurity among children and families Activities include:

• Delivering nutritious meals through the federal Summer Meals Program, ensuring children and families have access to consistent summer nutrition.
• Facilitating summer learning and enrichment activities for low-income youth, including academic support, literacy, and STEAM-focused programs.
• Engaging families by connecting children and caregivers to learning resources, enrichment activities, and community supports.
• Conducting outreach and awareness campaigns to inform the community about summer meal sites and educational opportunities.
• Collecting and reporting program data on participation, engagement, and outcomes to support performance tracking and continuous improvement.
• Documenting success stories and best practices to highlight program impact and guide future program development.
